Why I..... Sell Real Estate. Jenny Persha and I founded Enlightening Real Estate after we saw An Inconvenient Truth. We realized that our lives as real-estate agents didn't need to be in conflict with our love of the outdoors, and that our business could educate and create change. So we founded Madison, Wisconsin's first environmentally conscious real estate group. We offer Energy Improvement Mortgages to our customers. We provide our clients with a home-performance evaluation, and our buyers get one year of CO2 offsets for their new home or a membership to Madison Community Car (see page 101). We hand out CFLs at closings, and we take clients on walking or community car home tours. And we're just getting started. Every day, we come up with new ideas.
